Jailbreak after lunch break: Inmates try to escape Brazilian prison by hiding in plastic bags filled with food and paper plates

It was a desperate bid for freedom that, perhaps with the benefit of hindsight, was always going to be described as rubbish. Two inmates tried to escape from a Brazilian prison by disguising themselves as bags of garbage to be put out by prison guards. Sidney da Cruz, 24, and Carlos Pereira, 18, hoped to be picked up and thrown outside by staff at the Delegacia de Furtos jail in Curitiba, southern Brazil.
But a prison guard foiled the plot after noticing that the plastic bags were 'shaking', according to Brazil's Terra website. The lags' bid for freedom began on Tuesday after lunch, when leftover food and plastic plates are collected in rubbish sacks. The two men, jailed for car theft, climbed into the plastic sacks and put themselves next to the other bags lined up in a corridor for collection. Prison guard Cleverson Mineiro told Brazil's Record TV station: 'I was walking past the sacks of rubbish and I noticed something moving. 'At first I thought there was a rat, but on closer inspection I could see it was two inmates disguised as bags.' Police chief Gerson Alves Machado said: 'I don't know how they expected someone to pick them up and carry them away. These are grown men and the bags are made of thin plastic.' Source

Rapper Mystikal to Serve 90 Days in Jail

Louisiana rapper Mystikal, who was released from state prison in 2010 after serving a six-year term for sexual battery and extortion, will be returning to jail May 14 for three months. Mystikal's real name is Michael Tyler.

On Monday, state District Judge Tony Marabella added the extra time as a condition of the 41-year-old Tyler's five-year probation in the extortion case because he was arrested in February on a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse battery.

Prosecutor Sue Bernie told The Advocate Tyler stipulated to being in violation of his probation, which called for him to remain arrest- and conviction-free.

Tyler's attorney said Marabella ordered Tyler to spend another 90 days in jail but is giving him credit for the nine days he was detained after his Feb. 22 arrest.

George Zimmerman To Be Charged In Trayvon Martin Shooting

George Zimmerman will reportedly be charged in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, according to the Washington Post. NBC News confirms the report.

On Tuesday night, Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey told reporters that she would hold a news conference with an announcement on the case within 72 hours. According to a law enforcement official close to the investigation, Corey's office plans to announce that she is charging the neighborhood watch volunteer as early as Wednesday afternoon. It was not made clear what specific charges Zimmerman would face. ABC reports that investigators still don't know Zimmerman's whereabouts.

The news of the impending announcement came shortly after a bizarre press conference in which Zimmerman's lawyers said they no longer represent him, claiming he has repeatedly rebuffed their legal advice and that they had lost contact with him.

"As of now we are withdrawing as counsel for Mr. Zimmerman," Craig Sonner, one of his attorneys, told reporters outside the Seminole County Courthouse in Sanford, Fla. "He's gone on his own. I'm not sure what he's doing or who he's talking to, but at this point we're withdrawing as counsel. If he wants us to come back as counsel, he will contact us."

Protesters around the country have held rallies calling for Zimmerman's arrest, and a fringe group put a $10,000 bounty on his head, prompting him to go into hiding over concerns that he is in physical danger.

Although Sonner maintained that Zimmerman was "still in the United States," Hal Uhrig, another of Zimmerman's former attorneys, said that Zimmerman was not in the state where the fatal confrontation took place.

"You can stop looking in Florida," he told reporters. "Look much further away than that."

Zimmerman said he killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old, on Feb. 26 in the gated community where the girlfriend of the teenager's father lived in Sanford. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, called 911 and told a police dispatcher that Martin, who was returning from a trip to a nearby convenience store, "looked suspicious." After an altercation, Zimmerman shot Martin in the chest. He told the local police that he shot Martin in self-defense, and was not arrested or charged.

Corey announced earlier this week that she would not convene a grand jury in the case. Experts familiar with Corey's background say she has a reputation for avoiding grand juries in cases in which they are unnecessary. Under Florida law, murder charges can only be issued by a grand jury. Zimmerman may face other charges in the shooting death, including manslaughter and assault.

Both of Zimmerman's former lawyers said they stood by their previous comments on the case and maintain that Zimmerman was acting in self-defense

Stephon Marbury is getting a bronze statue, thanks to 1 million Chinese hoops fans

About two weeks ago, Stephon Marbury became a champion for the first time since high school. The Beijing-by-way-of-Brooklyn point guard led his Beijing Ducks to a 4-1 series win over defending Chinese Basketball Association champion Guangdong Hongyuan, bringing the Ducks their first-ever CBA championship. The win capped an emotional road to a title for Marbury, who turned his career and life around by going to China after the 2009 NBA season, thriving in the CBA game to the tune of three straight All-Star appearances and, now, a title.

While Marbury put up MVP-caliber numbers in the CBA finals — he averaged 33.4 points, 6.2 assists and four rebounds a night in the five-game series and poured in 41 points to seal the deciding Game 5 — he couldn't officially be named the series' most valuable player, thanks to a CBA rule stipulating that no foreign-born player can win the CBA's regular-season or postseason MVP awards. Eager to recognize Marbury's championship-winning performance, though, fans at the Chinese basketball website hoopchina.com started an online campaign aimed at building a statue of the former Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics point guard.

Within hours, more than 200,000 fans had thrown their support behind the project; within a week, more than 1 million had voted in favor of pushing the statue into production. As of the latest update, dated April 10, the statue — which captures the moment Marbury lifted the CBA championship trophy, shown above — has been modeled in clay, "transported to the Jiangxi Province [and is] ready to start after the bronze work," according to a translation of a post from the HoopChina forums.

According to the HoopChina poster who shared the photos, the whole process will take about 24 days to complete, so the earliest we'd see the full-on armored version of Steph's statue would probably be mid-May, smack in the middle of the NBA playoffs.

Marbury took to both Twitter and, according to Dime, Sina Weibo (a popular Chinese microblogging/social media service) to thank fans for the gesture, the honor and the love.

All of this, obviously, is pretty stunning. Three years ago, a huge share of the NBA-watching-and-commenting world viewed Stephon Marbury as at best irrelevant, at worst dangerous and generally ridiculous. Now, in a foreign land, he's defeated all comers, risen to the top of the world and become an honest-to-goodness folk hero. Stephon Marbury is basically living out "Planet Hulk" right now. What an amazing turn of events.

Grade school teacher’s aide fired for refusing to hand over Facebook password

Kimberly Hester, a grade school teacher's aide in Michigan, was fired for refusing to hand over her Facebook password to her supervisors. Hester posted a picture of a co-workers' shoes and pants bunched around her ankles on Facebook in April 2011 with the caption, "Thinking of you." She posted the picture in jest, but a parent who's on her Facebook friend list saw the image and reported it to Frank Squires Elementary where Hester was employed, prompting the investigation.

Teachers have gotten in trouble for Facebook status messages before, but in Hester's case, it's her refusal to hand over her password that actually got her fired. One of the supervisors from the Lewis Cass Intermediate School District (ISD), the regional service center for education in Michigan, even wrote her a letter when she refused to give them her password for the third time. Part of the letter read: "... in the absence of you voluntarily granting Lewis Cass ISD administration access to you[r] Facebook page, we will assume the worst and act accordingly." Lewis Cass wanted to put Hester on a paid administrative leave before they fired her, but she chose to go on an unpaid leave because she believes she did nothing wrong. She plans to use the letter she received to sue the school district.

An increasing number of companies and schools have started asking employees and students for their Facebook passwords. The practice has been growing at such an alarming rate, that Facebook released its official stance on the issue, telling its users that they have the right not to comply with their employers' request. Several politicians including Michigan's own State Representatives Aric Nesbitt and Matt Lori have been pushing for bills that will make the breach of privacy an illegal practice. Unfortunately, it hasn't been going very well for them — the House of Representatives recently rejected a legislation that would protect your passwords from employers' prying eyes

Paris Jackson says impersonator vocals were on "Michael" Album

Michael Jackson's daughter Paris made a bombshell announcement to friends ... telling them the MJ album released in the wake of the singer's death did NOT contain MJ's actual voice ... it was an imposter.

TMZ has learned ... the announcement was made during an online video chat with several friends in 2008 ... just before the "Michael" album was released, which contains several previously unreleased tracks allegedly performed by Michael Jackson.

The video chat was recorded ... and Paris joked about the footage eventually "leaking" to the Internet.

Paris had made the announcement in the midst of rumors that MJ's parts on the "Michael" album were REALLY performed by an MJ sound-alike named Jason Malachi ... but both Jason and Sony denied the allegations.

During the video chat, Paris played one of the songs from the album, "Hold My Hand" ... and one of her friends asks why the singer doesn't sound like MJ.

Paris replied, "It's NOT him ... the whole album isn't even him!! Go online ... go on YouTube and look up Jason Malachi. That's him!!"

She continues, "I should know if it's him or not because he would sing to me all the time."

DaLor - I Hate You Too

This song embodies the feelings of someone at the end of their rope and wanting out of a relationship that they tried to mend over and over again. I'm sure we've all been there before. Being that valentines day is tomorrow and I don't want to put negative energy on a day for love. I'll put this out there so you can reminisce about the horrible relationship you were in and how great it is to be free or in a GOOD relationship now.

We think so negative and this is a frustration release type of song so it'll prep you to feel nothing but positive tomorrow whether you have a significant other or are happy to be free and fully in love with YOURSELF (there's nothing wrong with that you know) Anyway enjoy ...I'll put the more lovey dovey song out tomorrow but if you know how i do..it won't be some sappy shit lol

My Project "Week 7" Available for Download

This past Thursday (2/2/2012...which is also my birthday) I released a project I call "Week 7". The title might be a little weird so I'll explain what it means. My career and life has been insane and backwards since the beginning. I went from a kid who loved making music to being behind the scenes at 18, seeing all the smoke and mirrors to then putting music on the backseat while I lived what you can call "the street life". That whole process made me grow up really fast.

That process also made me really cold and distant - I watched people go from being hot to not and watched a lot of dreams get crushed. I also watched a lot of underdogs win and learned the politics of the music BUSINESS really young. I went through depressions and severe trust issues because of my pursuit of success. Which I thought I was pursuing fiercely but I was really a distracted misguided teenager... just like everyone else. When you're talented though- your loved ones put alot of stress and pressure on you. Wasted talent is the worst shit in the world. I always been very in tune with who I am and what I wanted to do with my life.

Once music became a big part of my life- I decided if I’m gonna do bad I might as well use it to push my music as a way out. That brought the "steet life" to a different level. Once I started seeing money I kind of started looking at music like a past time almost for a while but the pressure was full time. I saw the way the streets suck people dry and almost have a unspoken debt that grows the more money you get from it. I felt like the day would come when I would have to pay that debt so I refocused. During that time of refocusing I lost friends and saw people fall victim to the game.

All that shit was so heavy that now I feel like the cold part of my life is over. I appreciate this talent God has given me and I will not spit in his face by letting it go to waste. Numbers have and always been very important to me so being that this is the age of Aquarius and all the prophecies attached that..I decided to release a project on my birth date to immerse myself in the energy surrounding this crazy period in human history. All the revolutions and the weird shit going on...this is a good time to let go of all your hang ups. My birthday happens to land on ground hog day when a shadow ceremoniously determines if there are going to be six more weeks of winter. I feel I lived through those cold six weeks and now this is my 7th.

All the numbers add up 2+2+1+2= ...yea you guessed it..7. 14 tracks divided by 2..which is how many projects I've released in the past year...equal ..you get it but I just wanted all the energy I can gather behind me releasing this project. Life is all about numbers...everything boils down to numbers. The reason I pay attention to energy so much is because I believe thats all we are...energy powering a computer which is our bodies.

I want my music and my energy to be immortal so I start now from week 7. I hope you enjoy my pain...lol

Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock May Tour Together

In other Chris Rock news out of Sundance: His once-rumored stand-up tour with Dave Chappelle still might happen. During a chat with Vulture about his movie 2 Days In New York (which will run in full on Thursday), Rock briefly talked about to us about his upcoming projects, and while he didn't have much to say about his role in the omnibus comedy What To Expect When You're Expecting ("Yeah, that's coming out"), he's pretty excited to go out on tour. "I've been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour," he told us. Those reports had surfaced briefly in October, but we'd heard nothing since then; is Rock really going to make this a reality? "You know I'm not the hard one," he said, laughing. "But I'm trying to make that happen. After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, 'Me and Dave should do this.'" Hell yeah! Rock doesn't have a name for the tour yet, but he's probably open to suggestions, right?
